We have partnered with H.C.L.L.C. Meat Processing and Rotary International to process a low-cost turkey product to feed malnourished children in Jeremie, Haiti. This product was developed by research at the University of Florida Meat Science Department, lead by Dr. Sally Williams. Our goal is to provide 2 ounces per child per day in the feeding programs administered by the Haitian Health Foundation. This non-profit group currently has 2,700 children in the program who are moderately to severely malnourished. This project, once it is fully implemented, will be very instrumental in decreasing the incidence of protein deficiency.
